Fort Calhoun, Washington County

A historic small town a short way up Highway 75

Fort Calhoun lies north of Omaha in Washington County, next to Fort Atkinson, the old frontier post the town is known for. It is a small place with long-standing houses and newer acreages on the hills around it.

We come up from Omaha for the same work we do in the city: drains that will not clear, and sewer lines that need cleaning, a look inside, or repair.

Drain and sewer work in Fort Calhoun

  • Long-standing houses

Older plumbing is tougher than it looks but does wear out. Slow drains across the whole house point to the main line rather than one fixture.

  • See it before you dig

On a hillside lot nobody wants to dig in the wrong place. A camera locates the problem first.

  • A straight answer

No hidden fees, and no work the line does not need. You see what the camera sees.

How we work

High quality, low cost. Fair and square.

  • No hidden fees

Straightforward, honest pricing. You won’t find hidden fees or charges on the bill.

  • We look before we dig

A camera inspection shows exactly where the problem is, so you pay for the repair the line needs, not a guess.

  • Fixed, then kept that way

Most companies fix the problem and leave. We clear it, then show you how to stop it coming back.

We called Bill at Affordable Plumbing at 11 pm thinking we would leave a message, but to our surprise he answered the phone. He offered to come immediately, but we settled on the next day. Bill was prompt, informative about our main drain issue, and did an excellent job. Would highly recommend, and use Bill again.

Questions

Good to know

Is it worth calling someone from Omaha for a rural property?

It is, because the alternative is often waiting days for a local opening. Fort Calhoun is a manageable run from our base and we cover it around the clock.

My line out to the tank is long. Does that cause problems?

Longer runs give waste more distance to lose momentum, so any low spot or slight slope error has more opportunity to catch material. They also take longer to clean and sometimes need jetting rather than a cable. Knowing the approximate run length before we arrive helps.

What should I check before calling about a septic backup?

When the tank was last pumped, whether the ground over the field is soggy or unusually green, and whether one fixture or all of them are affected. Those three answers usually point at line or tank before anyone opens anything.

Do older homes here have unusual plumbing?

Some do. Properties that have been added onto over generations can have mixed pipe materials, abandoned branches, and clean-outs in places nobody remembers. A camera is especially useful where the original layout is a mystery.

Can you work on acreages with well water?

Yes. Well water affects fixtures and water heaters, mainly through hardness and sediment, and it is worth factoring in when any new appliance is installed. Drain work itself is unaffected.
