La Vista, Sarpy County

A young city whose first houses are not so young anymore

La Vista was founded in 1960, which makes it one of the newest cities in Nebraska. Its original houses went up fast in those first years, and their drains and sewer lines are now well into middle age.

Newer parts of La Vista have newer plumbing, but the early neighborhoods are at the point where original lines start to show their age.

Worth knowing in La Vista

  • Original sewer lines

Lines from the first wave of building have had a long working life. Slow drains throughout the house, or backups that return, are reasons to look inside with a camera.

  • Clean-outs

A proper clean-out makes every future cleaning quicker and cheaper. If your line has none, or it is buried, we can install one.

  • Build-up, not just blockage

When a line clogs again a few months after snaking, the pipe wall is usually coated. Hydro jetting scours it clean.

How we work

High quality, low cost. Fair and square.

  • No hidden fees

Straightforward, honest pricing. You won’t find hidden fees or charges on the bill.

  • We look before we dig

A camera inspection shows exactly where the problem is, so you pay for the repair the line needs, not a guess.

  • Fixed, then kept that way

Most companies fix the problem and leave. We clear it, then show you how to stop it coming back.

I had a faucet that would not turn off and was driving me crazy. I called Bill and from the very beginning he was professional and up front with his price even on a Sunday. He got to the house when he said he would be here and was not only professional, he also explained as he worked, which I appreciate as I always desire to learn. I will call him any time I have an issue in the future and recommend him to everyone.

Questions

Good to know

I live in a townhome. Is the sewer line mine or shared?

Many attached homes run on a shared lateral out to the main, which means a blockage can originate in a neighbor's unit. Check your HOA documents or declaration before authorizing work, because the responsibility split affects who gets the bill. We can usually tell from the camera whether the problem sits on your branch or past the point where units join.

Can my neighbor's habits really back up my drain?

On a shared line, yes. Grease, wipes, and anything else that does not break down affects everyone downstream of where it entered. If two units in a building have the same symptom at the same time, that is where the line is common.

Does the HOA need to approve work on my line?

For anything inside your unit, usually not. For excavation in common ground or work on a shared line, almost certainly. Calling the management company before digging saves a dispute you will not enjoy.

Why is my basement drain the only thing that backs up?

It is the lowest point in your home, so it receives whatever the main cannot carry. That holds whether the restriction is on your line or further downstream. Where it stops being your problem is a question the camera and the locate answer together.

How quickly can you get to La Vista?

It is a short run from our Gold Circle base, so La Vista is one of the faster areas we cover, day or night. Emergency calls get prioritized by severity rather than by booking order, so say clearly whether water is actively rising.

“We called Bill at Affordable Plumbing at 11 pm thinking we would leave a message, but to our surprise he answered the phone.”
